Concentric e-Business Modules

e-Commerce vs e-Business simply put, e-Commerce is a way of buying and selling goods and services using form of Information and Communications Technology (ICT). Examples of e-Commerce range from sending an order by fax to a suppler, to transmitting the same order via an Electronic Data Interchange (EDI). e-Business on the other hand is a method of organising data and processes to maximise the use of ICT in fulfilling the objectives of the organisation and enhancing customer experiences. The subtle, but obvious difference is that the use of ICT is inate in all aspects of the way an organisation stores, processes and handles data, rather than being an incidental tool.

The guiding implementation principles are that each business process or activity has a software equivalent which is made available via a web based user interface, with well thought out affordances. The concentric process of analysis and implementation attempts to maximise the current and future benefits that can be derived from all or parts of the organisations datasets and processes by any of the stakeholders. This approach ensure that the system at any point in its life-time remains scalable, adaptable, extendable and efficable without resulting in huge maintainance costs to the business.

As no two discrete organisations are the same, the concentric e-business modules have to be tailored to the exact needs and requirements of each client. Implementation can be in any order, however there are some natural and mandatory - in some cases - pre-requisites for some modules as shown in the roadmaps.

The application is designed to integrate the functionalities of existing platforms and non computerised processes; as well as providing a single data source from which all analysis and reporting emerges. The benefits of this approach are many but include - smooth inter-functional communication; more accurate and reliable reporting; lower support costs: improved data security and accessibility; more streamlined processes;
